Richard William Tillson Jr. (aka:  Rik Maverick)

Born Jan. 17, 1955 in Dayton, Ohio; passed away August 21, 2012 at  Sherwood Healthcare Center, Sacramento after a 2 ½ year battle with brain cancer.  He is survived by his mother, Elnor Tillson, father Richard W. Tillson Sr., his sister Karen Tillson, stepmother Susan Meier, stepbrother Keith Gmeinder (Valerie), stepsister, Donna Gainsley (Kevin), nieces and nephews Amanda and Allison Smith, and Eric Gmeinder.  He also leaves his aunts Alforetta Hughes, Xenia OH, and Myra Phillips, Dayton OH, as well as a host of other relatives.  Rik graduated from C.K.McClatchy H.S. in 1972.  He attended U. of OR, Eugene, UCLA, and graduated from American Conservatory Theater in SF.

After college he lived in NYC, Boston and San Francisco and Berlin, where he founded and directed Berlin Play Actors Company.  He returned to Sacramento in 2000 and served as Director of Short Center North.

Donations in his memory may be made to Travelers Aid-Emergency Services or Short Center North.  A later memorial service will be announced on Facebook.com, search Rik Maverik.
